The three access surfaces

• Public, no registration: the country explorer (top ten countries by aggregated power), the top ten companies, the development-stage split, ten fixed source-linked sample records, and the full methods, coverage, and data dictionary pages.
• Paid web access: browse every country, state, city and operator in the current release, search by name, and open any facility for its full record, each value carrying the source link and reading date. One named seat; bounded daily and rolling access; no bulk export.
• Complete CSV: a one-time purchase of one release — every facility, every published attribute, and a source link and reading date beside each value, none of which web access exports.

How the dataset updates

The catalogue is rebuilt monthly. Each cycle adds newly evidenced facilities, advances development statuses as projects move from planning through construction into service, applies corrections against new public evidence, and extends attribute coverage. Every published rebuild passes automated release gates and a human review, then ships as a new release with its own ID and SHA-256 checksum; what changed is recorded in the release notes.

• A subscription always serves the current release. When a new release publishes, facility search reflects it immediately; facility IDs are permanent, so saved references stay valid.
• A purchased CSV never changes. It is bound to its named release forever — corrections ship as the next release, never as silent edits to a file you already hold. Re-download links for your release remain available from the account page.
• Months without material change publish no release. A new release ID always means real changes, listed in the release notes.

Reading facility power correctly

• Facility power is the facility or campus power under the source’s definition, in MW — it is not annual electricity consumption.
• Operating, construction, planning, and status-not-specified values are always kept separate; planned capacity is not operating capacity.
• A blank value means the public record does not state one. It never means zero.
• Country and company totals cover facilities that state a power value — read them as evidence-backed floors, not installed-capacity estimates.
• Announced full build-out (“up to X MW”) lives in its own ultimate-capacity field and is never summed into any stage total.
• The platform publishes no calculated electricity or emissions results; that layer is reserved — see methods.

Working with sources

Every record links at least one public source page, and individual facts carry field-specific links with the date that page was read. The complete CSV publishes those columns for every value, so a figure can be traced to the page that states it without leaving the file. Source pages can change or move after a release is generated; the access date tells you when the page supported the value.

Typical workflows

• Market sizing and site benchmarking: filter by country or metro in facility search, compare stage-separated power, and use the ultimate-capacity field to see announced headroom.
• Power and grid planning: work from the complete CSV and sum capacity by region and stage. A campus and the buildings inside it are counted once, so totals do not double-count.
• Supply-chain and vendor analysis: query cooling approach, liquid-cooling flags, rack density, and PUE where recorded — the coverage page states how many facilities record each attribute.
• Due diligence: open the facility, follow the source link on each value, and check it against the operator’s current disclosure before relying on any single figure.

Buying and verifying the complete CSV

The complete CSV is a separate one-time purchase tied to one release. Once payment is confirmed, your account page issues a download link that expires after a short window. If you need to confirm the file arrived intact, the data dictionary page shows how. Keep the release, the data dictionary, the receipt and the licence together; your internal-use right for that release does not expire when a subscription ends.

Frequently asked questions

• Why do some facilities show no power value? Because no public source states one. The record still documents identity, location, status, and its source; the value stays blank rather than being estimated.
• Why does attribute coverage differ between countries? Disclosure practice differs by market and operator. The coverage page states availability per attribute so you can judge fit before buying.
• Can I use planning-stage records as a project pipeline? Yes — that is why stages are never blended. Treat planning values as announced intent, construction as committed, and check the source date for staleness.
• Is there an API or bulk feed? Not in self-service. Team access, API delivery, and higher access allowances are arranged through an enterprise order.
• Can I train an AI model on the data? No — AI/ML training, evaluation, and retrieval-grounding are excluded from self-service licences. See the data license; exceptions require a signed enterprise licence.
• What happens to my CSV if I cancel the subscription? Nothing. The CSV licence is perpetual for the release you bought; only web access ends with the subscription.

Corrections and support

Found a value the public record contradicts? Send the facility ID, field, proposed correction, and public source URL through Contact & corrections. Substantiated corrections enter the reviewed overlay process and ship in a later release, recorded in the release notes. Support requests receive a first reply within two business days.
